Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Project:

The Legal Aid Society started this project in September 2016 and it will be completed in March 2019. The objective of the project is to work for the improvement of access to justice, especially for marginalized populations, through creating awareness on Court Connected Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods and also build the capacity of legal professionals about ADR. LAS is implementing this project in 7 districts of Sindh i.e. Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur, Khairpur, Nawabshah, and Sanghar. The project is meant to achieve following objectives:

  • Encourage buy in and promotion from key stakeholders within the legal system of ADR for improving access to justice.
  • Educate the public on the uses of, and how to approach court annexed ADR mechanisms, institutions and personnel.
  • Ensure quality relevant training to legal professionals;
  •  Providing ADR services; and advocating and supporting functioning of SALIS Committees
