Legal Aid Society’s project titled Access to Justice: Strengthening Legal Awareness and the Delivery of Legal Services in Sindh run under the sponsorship of the Enhanced Democratic Accountability and Civic Engagement (EDACE) initiative launched Legal Advisory Call Center in September 2014.

Pakistan is a country where more than half of the population lives below the line of poverty, for these underprivileged groups fulfilling basic needs such as food and shelter are a daily challenge, let alone legal services. People from these groups are often challenged and get stuck into situations where they need help from professionals. These marginalized groups have little or no knowledge about their rights and most of the time, do not know how to proceed when something goes wrong and requires legal intervention.

Legal Advisory Call Center aims to fill this void in the need for legal help for Pakistanis The purpose of this call center is to spread awareness of legal rights and remedies with a focus on disenfranchised members of society by establishing special help desks for minorities and women.

The Legal Advisory Call Centre operates under the chairperson-ship of Justice Nasir Aslam Zahid and Justice Arif Khilji as Chief Advisor. The advisory center agents are practicing advocates with real time experience in courts of law. The queries will be attended by these experienced and qualified advocates who will swiftly move on to rendering advice on legal rights, remedies and procedures.

Advisory Center Objectives

Due to the alarming situation of lawlessness in our country, most people are rather apprehensive when it comes to approaching formal institutions like the courts. On the other hand there are these segments of underprivileged communities in our society who do not have means to hire legal services and have very little or no access to justice.

Legal advisory call center will ensure quick legal solutions are a phone call away. Our aim is to spread awareness to people especially our targets groups women, juveniles and minorities; those who we deem to have less access to their rights and are more challenged.
